Hi, my name is Syd Mailberg, (female), and I feel it is important that you know something about me, my dogs, and my breeding philosophy.
I have a lifelong love of all dogs, but consider the German shepherd dog the ultimate dog: loving, devoted, willing, smart, beautiful, loyal, and protective. The German shepherd is different from other breeds. It is definately a one family animal, either ignoring strangers, or greeting them with restraint, saving the hysterical joy, the happiness, the devotion, for its family only. The German shepherd is the premier working dog all over the world, for good reason. It is biddable, wants to do its job, and asks for little in return, only your unending love, which is as it should be.
I have been breeding, training, showing and loving these dogs for almost 30 years. My first shepherd was a long coat sable, and I still have a soft spot in my heart for them. I have bred 17 AKC champions, and numerous Canadian champions. Some of my dogs have set breed records, and one has been on the cover of the German Shepherd Review and other dog magazines, honored for her many incredible titles. I will bring these dogs to you in subsequent pages. Scamp was the first male shepherd to have a UDX and HX, Jessica is one of only 8 GSD's to be a herding champion. Tori has set records for champion bitches with her many titles in agility, tracking, and obedience. Bear is a Ch. male with many working titles also. Needless to say, we are very proud of our working conformation dogs. I believe that the American German shepherd can work, and have these dogs as example. A GSD does NOT have to be ugly to do the work. A correctly conformed, lovely animal can do the job with more ease and with more excitement to watch!
Here at Kingswood, we place a great deal of importance to soundness, and we have an enviable health, hip, and elbow record. We are not perfect, but I believe we are unequaled in the soundness of our dogs. Recently we have incorporated German Show lines into our breeding program for diversity, and outcross vigor, with excellent results. We are always looking for ways to improve, and have some lovely animals as a result. We have gotten great bone and substance from these crosses, while retaining the beauty, movement, and elegance of the American lines. I have bred to the finest American and German lines; World Sierger Lasso grandson, Grand Victors, and the top producing dogs in the country, always keeping type, soundness, and working traits foremost in mind.
We are breeding for the total dog, incorporating soundness, beauty, and type, capable of doing any job, and doing it with the beautiful movement, character, and willingness of the best in the breed, what the breed
was designed to do. I prefer a larger animal, and and incorporate size when it is compatable with my philosophy of the total dog.I want to thank you for reading this lengthy missive, and hope you will stick around and have a look at the dogs and puppies, and enjoy your visit.
